Byron Allen's Allen Media Group's Allen Media Group's digital film distribution unit, Freestyle Digital Media, has won family rights in the acclaimed Asian-American family drama The Harvest.
“Harvest” is a semifinalist in every semifinal, the X-Actor List and the Nicole Academy Academy Competition, tells the story of Thailand, a story of returning to Southern California years later in San Francisco, facing only his estranged family, and a failed kidney fight against a father. The narrative explores the complexity of internal trauma, identity, and family bonds in a male-centered family.
Film star writer Doua Moua (“Gran Torino”, “Mulan”) hosted by director Caylee So, along with Perry Yung (“Warrior” (“Warrior”, “The Knick”), Daybreak Yuen Yuing Yuen (“Forge” Chhore (Chrisna Chhora), he, Chrisna Chhore, and Luc para, his Perry Young (“wrarior” (“warrior” Enamorarnos”).
The pageant’s darling premiered at the Santa Barbara Global Film Pageant, which built the momentum in Outfest Fusion, Caamfest and Minneapolis St. Paul Worldwide Worldwide Film Pageant. Its rising trophy shelf includes the audience award for the Seattle Asian American Film Pageant, and the jury award for the Cambodia Global Film Pageant, and was nominated for the Anti-Defamation League Standing Award.
“'Harvest' is a heartfelt tribute to resilience and vulnerable clues of family and identification,” So. “My hope is that audiences will see their own stories reflected in our stories and truly be excited by the energy and great things we share in humanity.”
Moua takes on a double responsibility among every author and star, adding: “It’s about our inheritance, love and hurt, and the way we are peaceful with everyone. There is a quiet meditation in the pain we provide in our family and I hope the “harvest” will resonate with anyone who has ever questioned or longed to see in the family.”
The film was produced by John Houselog and Moua, with a government producer with Yoson AN (“Mulan”, “Shadow Drive”), Cash Vang, Jaeson Ma, Eric Tu and Tenten Wei of Est Studios. Freestyle Digital Media negotiated with Est Studios' Wei and Sophie Shi.
EST Studios was created by Jaeson MA (“Stampede Ventures”, “88Rising”) and Eric Tu (“Vice”, “Vice”, “Negotiable Content Material”) in 2022 with a focus on bringing Asian stories to global audiences. Their current mission embodies the Oscar-shortened “Hidden Letters” and the Toronto-selected “OK-POPS!” directed by eight-time Grammy Award winner Anderson Paak. The studio could be behind Indonesia's highest-grossing film Pabrik Gula, which will be released on April 18.
The acquisition provides to Freestyle Digital Media's rising catalog of unbiased movies, which incorporates “Allswell in New York” starring Emmy winner Liza Colón-Zayas (“The Bear”), “All Pleased Households” with Josh Radnor and Rob Huebel, and “Survive” that includes “Sport of Thrones” star Sophie Turner alongside Corey Hawkins.
Starting June 20, on satellite TV on all North American digital HD networks, cable and PC platforms, the “Harvest” may also be accessible on all North American digital HD networks, cable and satellite TV.
