Entertainment pioneer Wink Martindale passed away Tuesday. He is 91 years old.

Martindale spent 74 years in the radio and television business, more than starting his career as a DJ before the Memphis Station WHBQ. Famously, DJ Dewey Phillips aired Elvis Presley's first file “This is all appropriate”. After hearing the monitor, Martindale called Presley's mom to see if he could come to the station to chat. The conversation was thought to help kickstart the career of young Presley.
Martindale himself, along with the spoken monitor’s “Playing Cards”, has launched a lot of lucrative information, which hit seventh place on the Billboard Scorching 100 chart and has purchased more than one million copies.
In the early 1960s, Martindale moved to Los Angeles and became the number for KHJ. He will work with KRLA, KFBW, KGIL-AM and KMPC on many sites within Better La Space.
